William Fairbairn
"I have been composing since four, I enjoy composing new songs and performing. Music is my life." - The Leader interview
In 2008 my composition 'Erebus' was composed as a tribute to that awful plane crash where so many lives were lost. 'War Flowers', composed also that year reflects on a young soldier going to war. I had the pleasure of performing this for the 2008 ANZAC Special on Maori TV. Both compositions rewarded me as a semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition, 2008.
From my early days busking on the streets of Nelson I have had the pleasure of performing at festivals, private functions, corporate events, television, fund-raising projects, heaps of cafes along with my own concerts and recitals. I have performed in Christchurch, Auckland, Golden Bay, Motueka, Nelson and now Brisbane.
I enjoy everything about music, either it be books, on film or watching concerts given by top artist such as Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Elton John, Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis and yes, the 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson; and many of the awesome modern Bands, they are all so encouraging and I have the greatest respect for them in what they have achieved and contributed to the music scene.
Me, William
I had the awesome pleasure of meeting Sir Cliff Richard prior to his Christchurch concert with The Shadows.
Here I was given the previledge of playing one of my compositions on stage before the concert started
